ABOUT

I have always been an athlete. I started lacing up ice skates when I was two and ironically ended my athletic career as a division 1 athlete who was always barefoot. The further I get into my professional career I feel both more and less like an athlete every day. My former professional roles were all directly involved in college athletics- at Fresno State and Baylor University. Here I lived being an athlete daily; early morning alarms, intense weight sessions and giving your all on and off the field. As much as I loved this life when it was my turn, I had outgrown living every intense minute of it myself. Currently, I am further away from direct interaction in athletics but still use all the lessons Ive learned in teamwork, dedication and time-management daily in the context of community college. I am able to guide and support a group of 8 student employees who are leaders of 100 other students using my background to share the importance of strong communication, discipline and adaptability.In all my future roles, as I inevitably mature further away from being an athlete myself, I grow into other roles of being a coach, teammate, and role model for life.

What jobs can you get with a Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree from California Baptist University?

The top 10 most common jobs done by the graduates we've analyzed (ranked most common to least) are:

When looking at the job history of folks who graduated with a Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree from California Baptist University, it seems that there's a mixed bag of job relevance. On one hand, several graduates have landed positions that are super relevant to their studies, like coaches, physical therapists, and strength trainers. For instance, roles such as Assistant Coach at UC San Diego or Strength and Conditioning Coach at various gyms clearly tap into the knowledge gained during their degree. These positions not only make use of the principles of exercise science but also focus on improving athletic performance and overall fitness.

On the flip side, there are also a good number of graduates who have taken on jobs that don't have much to do with Kinesiology at all. Many have moved into retail, administrative roles, or even unrelated fields like real estate and project management. For example, positions like Store Manager at GNC or Cashier at Sprouts Farmers Market don't really require any specialized knowledge about kinesiology or exercise science. Overall, while there are definitely some strong career paths that align closely with their degrees, a surprising number of graduates have ventured into areas that don't fully utilize what they learned. It's a reminder that sometimes, a degree opens doors to a variety of opportunities, but not all of them will be directly related to the field of study.}

However, as time goes on, a good number of these graduates eventually find their way back to the field, taking roles related to coaching, physical therapy, or supporting athletic programs. Over the years, it looks like many have transitioned into coaching roles, strength and conditioning positions, and even physical therapy, which are much more aligned with their studies. So while the initial jobs might not always be a perfect fit for their degrees, within five to ten years, many seem to find more relevant and fulfilling positions in health, fitness, and rehabilitation sectors.
