ABOUT

I graduated from Eastern Brown High School in the Spring of 2020. I knew when I was in high school I wanted to further my education in the Finance field since Freshman year. I did CCP classes Junior and Senior year at Southern State Community College. Since I have been at NKU, I have spaced out the rest of the credits I will need to graduate in the winter, 2023. I really hope one day becoming a financial advisor of some sort or pursuing a sales job after school. I am very open in the career I pursue, and bring a lot of qualities needed for any work environment. The more opportunities I receive, the more it opens my thought process in which way I want to pursue my career.

What jobs can you get with a Finance degree from Northern Kentucky University?

The top 10 most common jobs done by the graduates we've analyzed (ranked most common to least) are:

When taking a look at the types of jobs that graduates from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Finance have landed, you can see a clear pattern emerging. Many of them have secured positions at Fidelity Investments, where roles like Financial Representative, Investment Consultant, and Financial Consultant are prevalent. These jobs typically require and utilize comprehensive financial knowledge and skills, making them highly relevant to their degrees. Other roles, such as Claims Manager and Client Relationship Manager, also align closely with finance principles, involving risk assessment and client financial management. However, there are also positions that aren't directly related to finance, like Administrative Processor, Marketing Coordinator, or even various sales roles. These jobs largely focus more on customer service or administrative skills than on the financial concepts learned during their studies.

Overall, it seems that while many NKU Finance graduates do find roles that directly draw on their education, a significant number end up in positions that are not heavily finance-focused. This suggests that even if you pursue a finance degree, you might find yourself working in diverse fields—some of which may not utilize that knowledge to its fullest extent. So, while a Finance degree can open doors to intense financial careers, it's important to be aware that not every job will directly relate to the financial skills developed in college.

Over the years, a good number have moved up the ranks, transitioning to roles like Financial Consultant or Investment Advisor, which are definitely more aligned with their training and skills.

However, it's also clear that not everyone has stuck strictly to finance-related roles. Some graduates have taken diverse paths, like starting their own businesses or working in areas somewhat tangential to finance, such as administrative or marketing roles. For instance, one graduate shifted from a financial associate to a marketing coordinator, while another became a business owner. It indicates that while many finance grads are finding fulfilling and relevant careers in the finance industry, others have branched out. So, overall, if you're thinking about a finance degree, there's a solid chance you'll find success in relevant roles, but be aware that some graduates wander into different fields too.
